Le dieci specie sono state rinvenute in mwdgAmerica settentrionale e mwdwcentrale: la specie dall'mweaareale maggiore è la mweqS. agalenoides, diffusa dal Messico alla Costaricacite-ref-lycosidae-1-0[1].

Ritenuto sinonimo anteriore di mwgqSosippinus mwggRoewer, 1960d, a seguito di analisi sugli esemplari di mwgwS. californicus mwhqSimon, 1898 eseguite dall'aracnologo Brady in un lavoro del 1962cite-ref-lycosidae-1-1[1].

È anche sinonimo anteriore di mwjaHippasella mwjqMello-Leitão, 1944 a seguito di un lavoro di Capocasale del 1990cite-ref-lycosidae-1-2[1].

Non sono stati esaminati esemplari di questo genere dal 2007cite-ref-lycosidae-1-3[1].
